Development

Forsyth Hall

We have completed the construction of a new 40 space car park on land acquired in 2012 and have finished building a new 50sqm store onto the Forsyth Hall to improve storage. Other than small grants from the council and the David and June Gordon Memorial Trust, we have funded these works almost entirely ourselves at a cost of around £94000.

The final stage of the project is to build an annexe onto The Forsyth Hall to provide more and better meeting space for both church and community. The proposed annexe would include a mid-sized hall (roughly half of the existing hall), several smaller meeting rooms, storage, plus kitchen and toileting facilities. This will allow the annexe to function completely independently of the existing hall.

The estimated cost for this work will be in the order of £360,000. The scale of this project will require us to source significant external funding and this will be the time limiting element in commencing work.

Sanctuary

In February of 2018 we finished our refurbishment of the chancel area of the church.

We simplfied the floor levels in the chancel, and recarpeted the whole church.

We installed a new AV system including a new 16 channel mixing desk, two UST digital projectors and wireless microphones.

We upgraded the heating with new radiators and improved heat retention by installing secondary glazing,

We bought a new Digital Organ to replace our ageing and temperamental pipe organ.

By keeping much of the original church furniture we've retained the look that people are familiar with, but have created a much more welcoming and usable space at the front of the church.

It's evolution, not revolution!

We are grateful to the following funders for their help with this project;

Scottish Landfill Communities Fund - £17440

The Garfield Weston Foundation - £5000

The Swinton-Paterson Trust - £3000
